17th Australian Network of Structural Health Monitoring Workshop
20-21 November 2025

The ANSHM workshop organising committee would like to invite you to the 17h Australian Network of Structural Health Monitoring (ANSHM) Workshop in Newcastle.
This event is jointly hosted by EngAnalysis and the University of Newcastle with two central themes of “custodianship” and “value”. We are expecting all presentations to provide a balanced and informed assessment of technology application and the benefits and limitations of monitoring technologies.
This workshop aims to showcase some of Australia and New Zealand’s leading projects and raises awareness of monitoring technologies and build collaborations for the application of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM).
ANSHM comprise all major national universities, road/rail authorities, engineering advisory and technology companies across Australia and New Zealand. Researchers, engineers, managing authorities, asset owners, and anybody interested in data informed asset management is welcome to attend this workshop.
Submission Guidelines
Abstracts
The workshop will highlight Commercial Projects on day 1 with Academic Projects on Day 2
- Talks on the topics listed below are welcome
- Abstracts only are required
- Abstracts should not exceed 400 words
Commercial Projects
- Abstracts and talks should provide a balanced approach to technology and address the value proposition by examining the benefits and shortcomings of any technology or technique
- Talks should be informative and provide insight
- Each talk is scheduled to take 15 minutes (negotiable at time of abstract submission)
Academic Presentations
- Discussions on new fields, applications techniques and international developments are welcomed.
- As above, a balanced approach to demonstrate shortcomings and limitations is encouraged.
- The organising committee may schedule projects to run with structural themes and mix the commercial & academic content
- Each talk is 15 minutes (negotiable at time of abstract submission)
Student Presentations
- We have a student presentations on Friday afternoon.
- Brevity and simplicity are encouraged for all talks, student’s should be acutely aware to avoiding buzz-word-bingo and are encouraged to deliver focused insight and honest assessment of limitations.
- To encourage interesting student talks, cash prizes are on offer for the best student presentation
- (the judges decision is final and there will be no appeals process).
- Student talks will be strictly limited to 10 minutes
- A feedback session will be provided at the end of each talk delivered by a judging panel.
- While cash prizes and a competitive process is intended to raise the bar in effort; the focus is on coaching good technical presentation.
